| Description: | Annotation of the recording Hayu 1972 Tape 2 side B, an elicitation of Hayu disyllabic nouns. The speaker, a woman of about 50, was prompted in Nepali to pronounce single Hayu words at least twice, in a (sometimes inappropriate) frame "mi ___ nomi" 'that is a ___'. (The prompts were not usually recorded.) The XML annotation is a provisional adaptation of the Lacito TEXT annotation. Each S element contains the responses to a prompt for a single word. It contains a transcription of the speakers response ("phono"), a lexical form ("ortho") identifying the word elicited, and a translation of the word. These last serve as rough indexing keys. If a response contains additional words of interest (i.e. not 'that', 'is', etc.), it is annotated again in a new S element for each such word. The transcription is mainly IPA-based exept that 'y' is used for jod (IPA [j]). | |
