Description: Translation (Rita Seng Mai & Keita Kurabe) Long time ago, there was a village. The villagers mainly did farming for their living. That year, grass grew rapidly on their fields. Then, two women went to pluck the grass in their fields. Though they went together to pluck weeds one of them went home early without saying anything to her friend. The other one didn't know that her friend had left, and thought she was still there. When the sun went down at evening, she said. "The sun has set, so let's sleep in the hut tonight." Someone said, "Okay." When she heard the reply, she thought that there was her friend on the other side of the field. So, she said, "Then, you find some vegetables to eat. I'll cook the rice first." The other one said, "Okay. I will." When it got dark, the other one came to the hut. The one showed her worms and caterpillars, saying "Sister, I got a lot of food." So the woman was scared, thinking that was not her friend, but mountain witch. Then, she said, "You cook the curry since I've cooked the rice." The mountain witch said "Okay, I will." After getting the curry, they prepared to have dinner. But we humans don't eat worms and caterpillars, do we? So, the human woman dumped them through a crack in the bamboo floor, pretending to be eating them. The witch saw that and said, "Why do you throw that delicious curry without eating?" The witch picked that up and ate. After having dinner, the witch said, "It's time to go to bed. How do humans sleep?" Hearing that, the human woman immediately understood that it was not a human. Then she said, "When we sleep, we sleep with our mouths wide open like this." The witch said, "I will also sleep like that." The human woman thought. "I will melt my bronze hand chain until it turns red and pour it into this witch's mouth." With that thought, she melted her hand chain. When she looked at the witch, she was sleeping soundly.
