Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai & Keita Kurabe) The title of this story is "The man who became a mad eagle". Long ago, two men were traveling for business. They went from one village to another. They arrived at a village where no one lived. The sun was setting. They wanted to rest, so they talked. One of them said, "My friend, this village is empty." "So we have to find a place to spend the night." The other one said, "Let's not stay in this empty house." "Let's stay in the cemetery over there." The other one said, "Are you stupid?" "The cemetery is more scary." The other one said again. "No, the cemetery is fine." The other one said again, "No, the cemetery is scary." "Let's stay in this empty house." "It's fine." They argued. One of them said, "Forget it, you can stay anywhere you like." "I'll stay wherever I want." "I'll meet you here tomorrow morning when the sun comes up." With that, the one went to the cemetery to sleep. The one who went into an empty and slept was attacked by spirits. The one in the cemetery said to a grave. "Please protect me." "I'll stay here tonight." "I'll stay here," he said and slept there. The next morning, the man in the cemetery slept well, and went to call his friend. He called, but his friend did not come out. So he went into the house and said. "My friend, let's go." "Are you still sleeping?" Then, the head of his friend came down from the house, making a sound like "Galik, galik, galik". When the head came out, he got scared and ran away. The head came after him and said. "My friend, wait for me!" "Wait for me!" The head rolled after him, making a sound like "Galik, galik, galik". The head rolled and came after him. The man ran and ran. The sun was setting, he was exhausted and hungry, so he climbed a tree. When he climbed the tree, the head rolled under the tree, making a sound like "Galik, galik, galik". The man got so scared. He could not even look down. The sun was setting, he was hungry, exhausted, and lost spirit. He sat there and died, crying, "E wa, E wa". When he died, he became an eagle called the mad eagle. That's why the mad eagle still cries "Wu wa, Wu wa" today. And even today, under the tree where the mad eagle cries, you can hear the sound of the head moving, "Guk, guk, guk, guk, guk, guk". That is the story of these two men. Transcription (Lu Awng) Maumwi a ga baw gaw "Galang manya tai mat ai la langai a lam". Moi shawng e da, la lahkawng gaw hpaga ga na matu hkrun lam hkawm ma ai.
